Battle Tendency is the second story arc of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from November 1987 to March 1989.
The story follows Joseph Joestar, the grandson of Jonathan, as he learns to master hamon in order to combat hostile godlike beings named Pillar Men.
The Pillar Men are all named after bands, AC/DC, Wham, and Cars
In the manga at the Plane hijacking scene you can see Joseph Joestar reading a Superman comic. This has been changed to “Baoh” (one of Araki's earlier works) in the anime adaption, most likely to avoid copyright issues with DC Comics.
